A somewhat lacklustre performance from Old Priorians saw them fall a 30-12 defeat against West London rivals Grasshoppers, the Twisters losing their 100% record in the process.
Grasshoppers moved into an early 6-0 lead through two long range penatlies by fly half Conor Gilmore, before the game moved into more of a holding pattern. A yellow card for OPs second row Brohdie Cunningham with around 30 minutes played gave the visitors and opportunity to exploit numbers, which they executed for a try out wide shortly thereafter.
The Syon Lane then scored again with OPRFC still a player down, going into the break with a very healthy 18-0 advantage.
Some stern half time words seemed to do the trick for Priorians who came out for the second half with renewed purpose and vigour, scoring early on through the deployment of the rolling maul, Inder Sohi getting the try for his third of the season is as many games. Applying further pressure and able to retain possession, the Twisters then forced themselves right back into the fixture after Elvin Grant crashed over 53 minutes in to make it 18-12.
A solid battle ensued until Grasshoppers were finally able to punish OPs mistakes with two tries in the final ten minutes that gifted them a bonus point victory and put a sheen on the scoreline, 30-12 the final score.
There is little doubt that the winners deserved their victory, but the scoreline does not entirely reflect the narrative of the game ; however, a lack of clinical finishing from OPRFC cost them dear and Grasshoppers looked both organised and pacy.
The Twisters head to Sunbury to take on unbeaten London Irish Wild Geese next week.
